Lance Statement on the STOP School Violence Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) released the following statement after the U.S. House passed the STOP School Violence Act:
“Our students need to feel safe in school and the bipartisan STOP School Violence Act delivers to law enforcement and school officials the expertise, technology and funding needed to identify and prevent threats. Funds from this legislation will go to training and security measures for schools to recognize warning signs and institute reporting systems for potential threats. Students must be better protected against senseless violence.
“This is absolutely not the last word on gun safety. Bump stocks are being outlawed, the Fix NICS bill I have championed has now reached a bipartisan supermajority in the U.S. Senate and the background check legislation designed to close loopholes has over 200 cosponsors. I will continue to fight for these common-sense issues.”
