WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today welcomed New Jersey's 7th District 2013 Congressional Arts Competition winner, Miss Annie Zhao of Belle Mead, to the United States Capitol to see her submission put on display. Zhao, a junior at Montgomery High School, was recently selected to represent the Seventh Congressional District following a competition held at Merck in Summit this past April.
“The Congressional Art Competition allows young people from across the Nation like Annie Zhao to create works complimenting patriotism, their home states or personal interests," said Lance, who currently serves at co-chair of the Congressional Arts Caucus. "Annie’s work shows her great talent and I proud to have her artwork prominently displayed in the halls of the United States Capitol.”
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the Nation, as well as in each congressional district.
Anyone interested in visiting the annual display should contact Lance’s Washington office at (202) 225-5361.
