Lance Statement on President Trump's Executive Action on Pipelines

Jan 24, 2017
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07), a senior member of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, issued the following statement after President Donald Trump signed an executive order advancing two important national pipeline projects:

“Today's action by President Trump will allow the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines to be built.

“Energy production is the lifeblood of the American economy and the American people want and expect new sources of energy to be safely developed to create jobs and drive prices down for consumers.  And as many Americans experience a cold winter, every option for safe and reliable U.S.-made energy should be on the table.

“Both pipeline projects have been deemed environmentally safe and endorsed by labor unions and business organizations alike.  I am pleased with the President’s executive action and for making a promising commitment to North American energy independence.”

As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Lance is committed to working in a bipartisan capacity to advance energy and infrastructure projects that will boost our economy and create thousands of good-paying jobs in New Jersey and across the country.
